My Resolutions for 2017.

I don’t want to bore you with the result of my resolutions from last year. Because I absolutely failed to fulfill those. I haven’t been to the US, I didn’t go diving as much as I wanted to, I didn’t do any sports regularly except my month of swimming every day and I definitely didn’t post an article twice a week.

Anyway, this past year had a lot of surprises and plan changes and I am happy with the year as it was. I did indeed go to London for a day, went to Palenque and read 40 books. And in my opinion, I have improved my photography.

So now it’s time to publish my resolutions for 2017. I hope that this year I am going to fulfill more of my resolutions which I actually think is possible and I wrote them down in my agenda, so they won’t get lost.

Travel Resolutions

Visit 3 (new) countries.

I didn’t want to be specific here as my plans usually change. So three (new) countries which for me also includes revisiting countries I’ve been to already. Until now I have one international trip planned. I am going back to Germany for a month with a stop in New York in between. Obviously, my two homes Germany and Mexico won’t count as one of those three countries.

Travel/Visit somewhere new once a month.

I want to get to know something new every month. This doesn’t have to be far away but can be a cenote close by or the small Mayan ruins in Cancun I have wanted to visit in the last 2 years and never made it.
January is already fulfilled as I went to Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque, Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita. In February, I either want to spend a quiet day in Isla Blanca, another place super close to Cancun I haven’t been yet, or Mahahual which is south of Tulum. Let’s see what the other months will bring.

Work Resolutions

Get more virtual assistance gigs.

I want to become more flexible in terms of work. As everything I am doing is kind of assistance work, I now decided to create a website and get more into customer acquisition instead of just using job boards. The website will be online in the beginning of February.

Redesign my blog.

I like this website but it’s getting really slow and I cannot fix it with plugins and my knowledge is not sufficient. Additionally I would like to be creative again, apply and practice my CSS skills and just create something.

I already got a bigger account on Bluehost where I want to host my VA website as well as this blog. I am also into checking my website what I want to keep and what I don’t want to keep as some posts of the beginning are super unuseful, I want to update some posts and so on. Now it’s time to research how to move from one hosting company to the other because this will be the big challenge.

Personal Resolutions

Get my Rescue Dive Certification.

In the beginning of last year I got my advanced certification but I haven’t dived a lot last year. I won’t write a resolutions of how many dives I want to do this year but what I really want is getting my Rescue Dive Certification.

Read 45 books.

Ok I made it to read 40 books the last two years, it wouldn’t be a challenge if I again leave it like this. So this year, it’s going to be 45 books. And I am already reading my 5th book of the year 🙂

Get out with my camera once per month just to practice.

I usually don’t take many photos when I am not on a trip or doing something special. This year, I want to grab my camera once a month without anything special going on, just for the sake of practice.

Give food I cannot finish to someone who is hungry.

This resolution occurred to me a couple of days ago in Guadalajara. I passed a woman asking for money when I was on my way to a market. I got breakfast there. As almost always I couldn’t finish it. I noticed that I am fine when I ate half of it and instead of eating until I feel sick I decided to get a takeaway and give it to that woman. This is what I want to do this year. How often do you go and eat out and just eat everything because you don’t want to leave the food you paid for? How often do you feel sick or too full after? Right. This happens to me all the time as well. This year and in the future in general I will stop eating when it is enough. It is better for my health and I can help people who live in much worse conditions than I do.
